Kanata's History

Kanata is a suburb of Ottawa in the west part of Ottawa is the friendly city. This important tech center has a population of 90,000 residents and has experienced rapid growth since its incorporation in 1978. Parts of Goulbourn and Nepean were combined to form the planned city. Kanata remained a city until 2001 when the province created a newly unified city of Ottawa that included it as a part of the bigger city. Kanata lies just west of Greenbelt. It is among the larger communities around greater central Ottawa.
